Minute of Islands is a beautiful adventure game that may be less carefree than you think. While the outer appearance is wonderful - we love his cartoon-like, hand-drawn style - creates the game quickly a darker, sadient sound for his six-hour runtime. They play as Mo, a young girl who lives under the earth after a devastating plague has wiped out most of life on the archipelago that she calls her home. The game has the task of waiting for four giants that make the islands manually a safe place. It's about restoring the beasts after they all have stopped working on mysterious way.

To do this, Mo has to travel over the islands and distribute the air toxins that pollute the land. Creepy semi-synthetic, semi-organic technology is brought to life by MOS employees, the Omni Switch, to life. Once you have enabled all cleaners, go back to the background to wake up the giants with simple environmental pats. With regard to the gameplay, there is not much to chew with very simple interactions and some fumbling platforms, but the story is doing enough to invest in MoS journey.

For fear of spoilers, we will not say too much, but in the narrative, of course, it's about more than just this one goal. Everywhere on the islands you will find memories that give a brief insight into MoS past or the former world. Better still, you meet Mos family and learn more about their relationships with each other. There are even some dream-like sequences that also explore the psyche of the character. They are these more personal moments that really drive things, though they sometimes want more details than the story offers from the picture book.

Nevertheless, the overall effect is quite strong. The beautiful presentation fits well with the melancholy history, and you have a short, but atmospheric and fascinating adventure.
