The pandemic, so bitter she is, has opened new holiday opportunities many four-legged friends. Lords and mistress often refrain from flight journey or cruise and travel with their own car - the dog and sometimes even the cat may then come.
However, not all animals tolerate the car ride well. Often she arouses negative associations, as it often takes place in everyday life for the purpose of veterinarian visit. In good time before holiday, the felly family member should be accustomed to the ride, at the end - as a positive experience - for example, a walk, extensive game activities or a treat. If the tour actually proves to be a problem, because, for example, the travel sickness or even anxiety occurs, a conversation with the veterinarian can be useful, which may be drug-based.
Save well
In the car, the animal should only be well-secured. It is best to use transport boxes that are strapped with holding devices or seat belts and ideally placed transversely to the direction of travel. Boxing for large dogs find the optimal place in the hold or at least on the rear seat. The best possible solution represent the domicile that can be mounted firmly in the luggage compartment.
Alternatively, special safety belts, retaining shields or (for small animals) can also be used animal safety seats, which are adjusted on the safety belt or at the ISOFIX anchorings on the rear seat. The dog strap should have a solid closure and wide, upholstered straps, so that the load on the ribbor is limited in case of a sharp braking or even an impact. Important: The belt must not be attached to the collar, it threatens strangulation danger.
Separating gratings or stable separation networks between luggage compartment and passenger area provide additional protection and prevent the animal and / or the transport box from being catapulted in the passenger compartment.
Heat stroke threatens
The fact that sufficient feed and water is carried along behales itself. Also frequent breaks are recommended to treat movement to the four-legged passenger. Especially in the summer he can not remain alone in the car, because even with seemingly low outside temperatures, the sun can heat the interior so much that a heat stroke threatens. Even a shady parking lot or the window opened by a split-wide window offer no reliable protection.
Note entry requirements
Absolutely informed animal owners about the entry requirements of the destination country. In the EU, but also equivalent countries such as Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway, a pet pass is required, which contains information on the animal and its owner and detects the rabies. According to ADAC, it has to be made at least 21 days before departure, even the refresh vaccination must have been made on time. In addition, animals, which were marked for the first time from 3 July 2011, is a chip duty. Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Malta also demand a treatment against tapeworms in dogs.
Also important is the view of more rules in the Ferienland. In Italy, Spain and Denmark dogs have to be on the leash, in Spain and Italy, and many beaches - at least during high season - are locked for four-legged friends.
