Hardly anyonecraft project is celebrated so and is so satisfactory to look at as this falling sand that shapes a picture.
Although Minecraft is in the core a pretty simple game, it creates players again and again and creating extremely creative works of art in the game. Some of them are large buildings like castles or whole cities, others are a creative exploitation of game mechanics. The latter is also in the case of Kevinjnguy01, because the creates with colored sand a work of art, which is the same.
What to see there? In the subreddit of Minecraft Kevinjnguy01 has released a video of his recent minecraft project. It shows a strange looking form of stacked sand. After a single torch is smashed, the whole structure begins to fall into each other and shapes a picture so slowly - to the last block.
How does it work? Sand is one of Minecraft to one of the few blocks affected by gravity. That is, when a block of sand hovers "in the air" and is due to nothing, then it falls until he reaches the ground. That's exactly what Kevinjnguy01 has made useful and thus created a huge work of art.
The clou: Torches attached to the sand blocks, hold the next sand block in position. If the sand block falls with the torches, then the torch dissolves and ensures that the next sandblock falls down. This results in a pretty long chain reaction that slowly creates the image of the Minecraft main character Steve, which enjoys the sunset.

This is how the community reacts: In the subreddit of Minecraft, the article is formally exploded. Almost 100,000 upvotes and more than 1,000 awards ensure that the post with the video is one of the most popular posts of all time. Accordingly, the comments are also positive that are below:
- "That's enough to let a Minecraft veteran cry ... and it's okay! <3 "
- "At the beginning, I thought I'm going to rickrolled. Now I love it. "
- "My computer whispers quite quietly: Do not do it" - an allusion that falling sand in Minecraft can eat a lot of processor performance.
By the way, Kevinjnguy01 had to cheat a bit for this project. So he raised the limit of the height of the world to more than 1,000 so that the sand tower can even be stacked so high.
What do you think about this project? Just a really nice thing? Or a huge waste of time?
