If there are veteran minecraft players who read this, hear a name as "glacier" could ring some bells. At the time, there was a handful of global generation seeds that caused really magnificent views. There was not really equivalent for this with modern minecraft, the current field generation focusing on more realistic landscapes. And this could remain true in the foreseeable future ... but today is an exception.
At present, in an experimental overview version of the last update, some people discover extraordinary and unforgettable sites.

The current update for Minecraft is the "Caves & Cliffs" update, which - as you can guess - greatly changes how the game generates the field. The relevant part here is the way the biomes are formed: they had the same form vertically, but now the biomes can form one on the others. The intended use for this was probably to allow the newly added mountains to change biome as they went up (like becoming snowy near the top), but it also applied to all the rest. In this tweet, we see everything generated at the top of a "coral reef" biome (among many other oddities), creating the sheltered tropical ocean you see there.
That Mojang considers these landscapes as "bugs" or "characteristics", the result is the same. This tweet is only one screenshot among so many others; Innumerable fans are amazed by the views available to them. The images are shared on several platforms, with reactions ranging from joy to fascination. Perhaps this reaction could inspire Mojang to rework its goal for the minecraft field generation - more strange things have occurred in this industry.
